HP M452 / M477: clean the print path for spots or smears
Choose Cleaning mode or Cleaning Page to match the printer’s panel.

For spots, toner smears or streaks on HP M452 and M477 printers, try a cleaning cycle after checking fresh paper and the correct driver paper type. This is different from colour calibration.
M452 with a two-line button panel
- Load plain A4 or Letter paper. Press OK, choose Service → Cleaning mode, then press OK.
- Follow the screen’s prompts. If it asks you to reload the printed cleaning sheet, place it in Tray 1 with the same orientation. Wait for completion and discard it.
M452 touchscreen or M477 touchscreen
- From Home, touch Setup → Service → Cleaning Page.
- Follow the paper prompts, including reloading a cleaning sheet if requested. Keep power on until the cycle finishes, then discard the sheet.
